World Oral Health Day Activities 2025

Dental College HITEC-IMS actively participated in the global celebration of World Oral Health Day 2025 with a week-long campaign from March 17 to March 21, 2025. This year’s program was dynamic and far-reaching, incorporating school outreach visits, a university awareness lecture at COMSATS, a poster competition for 2nd-year BDS students, and a highly interactive awareness session.

The campaign was initiated by Dr. Irfan Shah, Principal of HITEC-IMS, who emphasized the institution’s dedication to oral health advocacy. Under the leadership of Dr. Maria Rabbani, Assistant Professor of Community Dentistry, a committed organizing committee—Dr. Amna Faisal, Dr. Khadija Tariq, Dr. Huda Habib and Dr. Omer Farooq worked diligently to execute a diverse range of activities that reached beyond the confines of the dental college.

March 17, 2025 – Awareness Lecture at COMSATS University

The campaign kicked off with an awareness lecture at COMSATS University where Dr. Rida Batool, opened the session with key statistics on oral diseases and their impact on general health. Dr. Irfan Shah, Principal of HITEC- dental college delivered an insightful session on oral cancer, its prevalence, and its long-term effects. The lecture concluded with a highly engaging question-and-answer session, where students actively participated, demonstrating a keen interest in oral health issues.

March 18-19, 2025 – School Visits & Free Dental Checkups

As part of the community outreach initiative, a team comprising third-year BDS students and house officers conducted school visits under the supervision of Dr. Maria Rabbani and her team. The team visited two schools, Educators and Government Primary School, where they conducted free dental checkups and examinations for over 250 students. In addition to oral screenings, the students were provided with oral health education, focusing on proper brushing techniques, cavity prevention, and the significance of regular dental visits. The initiative helped create awareness among young students, equipping them with essential knowledge to maintain good oral hygiene.

March 20, 2025 – Poster Competition (2nd-Year BDS)

On this day, 2nd-year BDS students showcased their creativity and knowledge in a poster competition. Their work effectively illustrated the connection between oral health and mental well-being. The competition was judged by Dr. Shazana Rana, Dr. Rabia Masood, and Dr. Amir Rafique, who evaluated the posters based on their creativity, scientific accuracy, and overall presentation.

March 21, 2025 – Awareness Session & Closing Ceremony

The final day of the World Oral Health Day campaign was a grand awareness session at HITEC-IMS Auditorium, attended by faculty members and students from BDS, paramedics, and HITEC University, Taxila. The session began with Dr. Irfan Shah’s compelling talk on the significance of oral cancer and its prevention.

The distinguished guest speaker, Prof. Dr. Arshad Mehmood Malik, an eminent Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Dean of HBS Dental College, delivered a visually engaging lecture on common dental diseases, their treatment, and prevention, keeping the audience captivated. The event featured interactive quizzes, discussions, and the distribution of oral health kits including pamphlets on preventive care. An engaging skit by 2nd- and 3rd-year BDS students creatively emphasized fluoride use. The session concluded with the poster competition prize distribution, marking the successful culmination of the campaign.
