SEMINAR ON DENTAL MATERIAL ADVANCEMENTS

This seminar was organized by Prof. Dr. Shahreen Zahid, HOD Dental Materials FUCD. The aim of this seminar was to enhance understanding of dental materials through expert-led sessions on contemporary advancements. Interactive activities, including role-plays, problem-solving exercises, and discussions, promoted active participation and collaborative learning. A total of twelve students. A team of 12 second-year students, led by Dr. Zuleikha Malik, Assistant Professor Dental Materials represented Dental College HITEC IMS at the seminar. Their participation highlighted the college’s commitment to hands-on learning and academic involvement in dental material advancements.

Session Highlights:

Session highlights began with a welcome and introduction facilitated by Prof. Dr. Shahreen Zahid. This session provided an overview emphasizing the importance of dental materials in clinical practice, setting the stage for the day’s discussions. The seminar continued with an engaging presentation on the latest materials and technologies in endodontics, delivered by Dr. Asfand Yar. Dr. Shoaib Rahim led a session focused on materials in aesthetic dentistry. A number of case reports were discussed which highlighted innovations that contribute to improved patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Interactive Sessions:

Role Play Activities and Problem-Solving Exercises were Moderated by Prof. Dr. Shahreen Zahid with contributions from an expert panel including Dr. Abdul Qadir and Dr. Zuleikha Malik. Topics included material selection, cementation issues, and challenges in digital dentistry, among others.

Quiz and Closing: The seminar concluded with a quiz designed to assess participants’ knowledge of restorative dental materials. The competition saw enthusiastic participation, with trophies and certificates awarded to the top teams. Notably, two teams from HITEC College excelled, securing both 1st and 3^rd positions. The 1st place team consisted of four students from HITEC Dental College: Taha, Tayyab, Adeena, and Nimra. The 3rd position was achieved by a four-member team including Amna, Iizza, Fajar and Ayesha.
