Special Acknowledgements to Principal Gen Hamid Shafiq, Principal Dr. Irfan Shah, Major Azher Dir Adm & Ops for supporting such workshops. Dental College HITEC-IMS Taxila recently empowered its students with a valuable workshop titled “Literature Search and Systematic Reviews.” This initiative aimed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct effective research in dentistry.
Building on this momentum, the college, in collaboration with the CME/CPD Committee, the research cell, and the student research society, held a session titled ” Literature Search, Research question development and Systematic Reviews” specifically for final year MBBS and BDS students
Details of the Session:
• Date: May 24, 2024
• Timing: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Venue: Lecture Hall 3
• Facilitator: Prof. Dr. Shahreen Zahid Khan
Workshop Highlights :
Led by Prof. Dr. Shaheen Zahid Khan, the student workshop provided students with a comprehensive understanding of conducting thorough literature searches. Participants actively engaged in discussions, learned search engine tips and tricks (like using PUBMED), and practiced their skills through hands-on exercises on various research topics. The workshop also delved into the concept of systematic reviews, providing a foundation for this crucial research method. Prof. Dr. Khan further facilitated the generation of research questions by dividing students into groups of three to four students and guiding them through 10 pre-defined research project areas. Students also gained practical experience in using search engines and databases to develop research studies through Dr. Shahreen’s insightful strategies.
This well-designed workshop is expected to be a significant step towards fostering a strong research culture within Dental College HITEC-IMS Taxila. By equipping students with the necessary research skills and tools, the college empowers them to actively contribute to the advancement of dental and medical knowledge.
