How to Construct Good Quality MCQs and OPSE/OSCE Stations.

Introduction

Since the inception of post-hoc exam item analysis, an acute need was felt by both the dental education department and the faculty. There was also a pressing need to communicate a standardized structure for constructing good quality OSPE/OSCE stations to the faculty. With these objectives in mind, a workshop was arranged to provide the faculty with a hands-on opportunity to compose both quality MCQs & OSPE/OSCE stations according to provided standardized, structured format. In addition, the participants were informed about the psychometric properties of a quality examination, and best practices quality measures along with common mistakes and pitfalls in MCQ & OSPE/OSCE construction were also thoroughly discussed in the workshop.

The participants highly appreciated this opportunity and expressed their desire that such beneficial academic activities should occur more frequently in the future.
