HITEC-IMS Dental College Student Maarij Saeed Places Second in Shifa Scholars’ Day Poster Competition

Maarij Saeed, a student at HITEC-IMS Dental College, placed second in the 12th Annual Shifa Scholars’ Day poster competition with her poster on the topic of “Comparative efficacy of mandibular advancement devices (MADs) in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA): a network meta-analysis.” The competition attracted over 130 entries from different institutes across Pakistan.

The participation of Maarij Saeed and four other students from HITEC-IMS was facilitated by the Student Research Society of the medical and dental college HITEC-IMS. The event was held on August 29, 2023, at Shifa College of Medicine.

Maarij Saeed’s poster was one of 85 posters that were shortlisted out of 135 participants from 14 medical and dental colleges. The first prize went to a team from Shifa College of Medicine and RMU, and the third prize went to a team from Army Medical College and shifa.

Maarij Saeed’s poster was the only BDS poster among the 85 shortlisted posters. She was awarded a cash prize of PKR 10,000 and a certificate of appreciation.

Dr. Wajeeha Mahjabeen and Dr. Shahreen Zahid, heads of the research cells in the medical and dental colleges, administration facilitated the participation of the students from HITEC-IMS in the competition under the leadership of Principal medical college Dr Major General (rtd) Sitara-e-Imtiaz Hamid Shafiq and Principal Dental College Prof. Dr. Irfan Shah
